"The gall of someone to tell the whole company [...] they should want to work 50+ hours a week"
  • 02
VP on an all company call told us all that "if you want to work only 40 hours a week don't let the door hit you in the □ when you leave".
  • 03
Let me preface this to let you know that of the 500 people in the company about 100 are sales people who get commissions.
  • 04
Another 25 get performance based bonuses. 70 are salaried with OT. The remaining 300+ are exempt salaried with no bonus and no commission.
  • 05
So the Partner (VP) that runs this division had an all team call. On the call was the typical you rah rah sales stuff to get people fired up.
  • 06
But then he tells us that if only want to work 40 hours a week that you should leave the company because we are planning on GROWING FAST!
  • 07
In the 2.5 years I was there, not one single person on my team got a cost of living raise. So I started asking around. The teammates in my location had NEVER gotten a cost of living raise. One person has been there 6.5 years. Not a single raise for ANYONE on the team since they started.

I cannot believe the gall of someone to tell the whole company who hasn't gotten a raise, doesn't get any profit sharing, gets no bonuses or commissions that they should want to work 50+ plus hours a week when they get LITERALLY NOTHING IN RETURN FOR THAT.

Literally the only people who will get rich are the 12 partners in the company and perhaps some of the sales team.

How are people this disconnected from reality? EDIT: Oh yeah, this is also one of those "we are a family" companies.

Humble-Plankton1824. 23 hr. ago I'd be OK with a lot of working hours if it hourly pay with proper overtime. Salary with no extra pay?
  • 17
Th3TruthIsOutTh3r3 OP . 23 hr. ago exactly. You want me to put in 60 hours but only pay me for 40 hours?

mikemojc 21 hr. ago To quote a confused actor, "What's my motivation?" Sales force get commissions, hourly folks get overtime... what's the motivation for the salaried folks to go above and beyond? retention bonus? performance bonus? profit sharing? Leaders motivate. manipulators cajole.
